Who we are

‘IT’S UP TO ME NVIRONMENTAL’ is a local non-governmental organisation (NGO) making a positive impact on recycling in Trinidad and Tobago.

 

What we do – our Mission

Our mission is "to inspire, educate and implement behavioural practices for the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago with a heavy focus on recycling".

Trinidad has a serious waste problem:

  • In 2005 a total of 564,964 tonnes of waste was placed in our landfills
  • 165.92 % increase in the waste disposed of from 1990
  • Includes 600 million plastic & 120 million glass containers
  • Increasing the demands on our landfills
  • Biodegradable materials degrade anaerobically & release methane
